Aeration Applications (General)


Aeration Applications are generally those that need air flowing through the mixture to accomplish oxidation. In rare cases other gasses are used to accomplish a chemical reaction. The most common applications are shown. The user should bear in mind that any of the choices will take him/her through the same steps to arrive at a proper blower selection. In many cases the engineer needs to indicate the minimum number of blowers that are to be put into the system. This is, in many cases, determined by the logistics of the application. (e.g., where power is available, pressure drop through feeder lines, the utilization of a higher percentage of the horsepower of the connected motor.)

Pond Aeration
Pond Aeration and Water Treatment utilizes air to keep the pond or lake (or other water source) fresh and free from scum buildup. Air is introduced at specific levels through proprietary aerators, which have proven to have a certain efficiency. The size and number of aerators is determined by the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) of the pond or lake and by the efficiency of the aerator. In many cases the solar heating of the pond or lake will create different demands in different seasons. The layout of the aerators and their depths should be done by a competent engineer and Royston Group will help that engineer select the best number of blowers and their sizes to make the most efficient installation

Sewage Treatment Aeration
Sewage is treated at a central location and the solids, must be made inert and the discharge liquid must be cleansed of any impurities before being discharged into streams, rivers, lakes or oceans. Air agitation is a tool used often to accomplish this.

Fish Farming
Fish Farming is the growing of fish or seafood under controlled conditions with their air needs being supplied by a blower through aerators. The engineer will decide on the amount and location and depth of the aerators. The Royston Group system will step him through the sizing and selection of the blowers.

Aquariums
Commercial sized Aquariums can use a central blower that supplies air to all or part of the tanks. Aquarium suppliers will supply the valves and hose to feed the tanks. A central pipe is used to connect to the smaller valves and hoses.
